Forty of our students, present and past, along with Mr Toal and Ms Finneran travelled to Dublin early on Saturday morning 7th December to help out with the annual street collection for the Capuchin Centre for the homeless, poor and elderly.


The Capuchin Centre has seen a 100% increase in the demand for its services in the past year alone and they are a lifeline service for huge numbers of people currently struggling to cope with the continued recession.

The girls from 6th Year, 5th year and the school’s Social Justice Group, helped to raise almost €31,000 by collecting on O’Connell Street and singing Christmas Carols at the GPO.

Almost 2,000 people in need collected food parcels last Wednesday from the centre containing basic essentials that many people simply cannot provide for themselves and their families in these harsh economic times.
